[size=10.000000pt]Among the progressive neurodegenerative disorders, Parkinson's disease (PD) isthe second most common. Different factors have critical role in pathophysiologyof PD such as apoptosis pathways, inflammatory cytokines, oxidative stress, andneurotransmitters and its receptors abnormalities. Acupuncture and electro-acupuncture were considered as nondrug therapies for PD. Although numerousstudies has been conducted for assessing the mechanism underlying electro-acupuncture and acupuncture, various principal aspects of these treatmentprocedures remain not well[size=10.000000pt]‐[size=10.000000pt]known. There have also been few investigations onthe molecular mechanism of acupuncture and electroacupuncture therapyeffects in PD. This review evaluates the effects of electroacupuncture andacupuncture on the molecular mechanism in PD.
